On February 10, Notre Dame took on the Louisville Cardinals in what seemed to be a quite epic game. Starting off as an average game Louisville was beating Notre Dame with a 56-48 lead. The Cardinals had a chance to win until they lost control of the ball and couldn’t get a shot off. Into the first of 5 overtimes, both teams had a tough time getting a shot off. However at the end of the second overtime with only 16 seconds left in the game Cameron Biedscheid hit a 3 pointer forcing a third OT. As Louisville and Notre Dame went into their third overtime, it was a cat and mouse game with Chane Behanan scoring inside in the last 15 seconds causing and 83 point tie. With both teams missing a good percentage of their foul shots the scores remained close into the fourth OT. Atkins and Zach Aguste missed a majority of their shots for the Irish however Sherman tipped in an intense rebound with the score now being tied at 93. Into the 5th OT Biedscheid scored a layup with 1:19 left as well as the added free throws made by Atkins and Pat Connaughton in the final 19 seconds. Linebacker  Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens has  reached his retirement. What are the Ravens planning on doing in his honor? Well build a statue of him of course. Lewis played his final game of his legendary 17 year long career for the Baltimore Ravens football team in Sunday night’s super bowl victory against the San Fransisco 49ers. Lewis was a two-time NFL defensive player of the year and a 12- time pro bowl linebacker. Bisciotti stated that they are not yet sure where the statue will be bulit or placed or how long it will take but the plans are being considered. They intend to follow the statue of the Colts quarterback Johnny Unitas outside of the M&T Bank Stadium. Many stated that he set himself apart and made Baltimore sports history. They are looking into getting started on the statue as soon as possible and are looking forward to it being built and finished in the next year or two. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh stated that Lewis will always be welcome to come visit and have talks with the team, however he will not be a part of the staff next season. Lewis was offered an oportunity to help coach however it is said that he declined the offer, at least for right now. Lewis was an excellent linebacker and will always be looked upon in the future walking around proud to have won the super bowl in what looks to be his final football game.

Syracuse Defense Contain’s  The Outside Shooters Of Notre Dame In Their 63-47 Win Monday Night!

Syracuse vs. Notre Dame. With the combination of multiple 3 point shooters as well as having Jack Cooley, one of the toughest low post players on the Notre Dame basketball team it was a strong belief that they could take home a win in their game against Syracuse on Feb 4, 2013. Syracuse’s 2-3 zone defense was tested greatly by Notre Dame, however the orange covered the perimiter and interior of the court in order to gain their 63-47 win over Notre Dame at the Carrier Dome on Monday night. Syracuse was holding Notre Dame 6-for-20 shooting from the 3 point range. Cooley meanwhile had to work hard for his 10 points. The Syracuse coach stated that he thought they played just as good defense as possible. “The big key with Notre Dame is watching their outside shooters.” Stated Boeheim. Syracuse played Notre Dame last year and lost in a 68-57 game, however this year realizing their previous mistakes they kept a sharp eye on Cooley and the rest of their outside shooters causing them to eventually gain their victory of 63-47 over Notre Dame!
